It has been almost a year since I unleashed my venom/sense of absurdity/ability to watch Hammer films on these pages, and with any luck, a review of Scars of Dracula will be shortly forthcoming. But for now, Heroes premiere haikus:
Annoyance recedes,
characters more like real guys:
Danko dead. Danke.
Peter saves some folks,
has bromance with EMT...
"Petrellicest" fades.
Drug rings stalk the streets!
Still, Matt saves superpower
for deliv'ry guy.
Hiro: dying man?
Maybe brain would benefit
from relaxing face.
Tracy's back, if damp:
Weren't they triplets, I recall?
One blonde in reserve.

SCARS OF DRACULA isn't as bad as its detractors claim. Maybe I'm generally down on Hammer anyway, but the "Carry On"-like moments and unconvincing bats are really representative rather than sore thumbs. Of course, "my" Hammer is QUATERMASS AND THE PIT, so I'm probably prejudiced.
It wasn't bad, exactly (can't say why without blowing whatever passes for good lines in the review to come), but it does give the impression that the studio had a barrel of fake blood somewhere that was about to go bad if they didn't work it into this picture right now...
